The essential skills of the people involved in various areas of medicine will always be needed. There are however some skills that are experiencing something of a shortage when it comes to finding qualified people. This is driven in part by the migration of workers to other areas of medicine, or different fields altogether. In some cases, it is caused by the rapid development of new technology. This makes it necessary to properly train people to properly use and decipher results from these diagnostic tools. Some hot jobs in the field today are:
* Medical transcriptionists: This might not sound particularly glamorous, but it is important to an efficiently run medical program. The role involves properly maintaining records dealing with a number of issues related to patient care.
* Medical assistants: this area is seeing a lot of growth, possibly due to the minimal educational requirements. These people assist with a wide variety of support tasks. Training in nursing or medicine is not vital.
* Pharmacy technician: These are the people who provide support to pharmacists, particularly with the dispensing of drugs. People skills are useful, since these workers are usually the ones dealing with the public.
* Technician: The term actually applies to a number of different types skill people who operate testing equipment such as MRI scanners. Doctors don’t generally have time to perform these tests, so it is up to the technician to provide results for a diagnosis to be reached.
